How Has My Writing Changed?

When you learn a foreign language you should pay special attention to two very important aspects, grammar and lexis. Writing helps to develop both of them. Fortunately, during last two semesters at university we’ve been studying academic writing. As for me, it was an extremely useful course. It changed my writing skills and style for better. We’ve learned a lot of new writing techniques and mechanics. For example, we discussed why it is so important to know how to write a 5 paragraph essays. We have also discussed what thesis statement should look like. To my mind, the best part of our studies was putting the new information into practice. It is crucial to try writing many different essays and articles. Besides, we were encouraged to write about serious topics that are related social problems. I find it very useful, because it helps to go out of your ‘writing comfort zone’. Another useful thing was receiving a feedback from a professional. The feedback we received during

Pros and Cons of Studying Online

The quarantine took many of us by surprise. A lot of people weren’t ready to change their normal life into something quite different, online life. Thousands of students now have to study online, and not all of us are happy with it. We can't deny the fact that online studying has some pros. First of all, it’s quite convenient. Students don’t have to spend their time or money on transport. All you have to do is turn your computer on. Moreover, you don't even have to spend your time on dressing up nicely. No one will judge you for having no make-up on. Secondly, students now have a more self-oriented schedule. Of course, there are still some online classes that have a particular date and time, but other than that students can work around their own schedule. On the contrary, online studying has some serious cons. The first thing that comes to mind is the heavier workload. The material at times is more challenging than face-to-face classes. The topic of voice and text messages is widely discussed nowadays. There are people who support voice messages over text ones. And then there are other people who think that voice messaging is impolite or even rude. Obviously, both text and voice messages have differences, they have their own advantages and disadvantages. First of all, voice messages seem more convenient to send. You don't have to spend time typing, you just have to press one or two buttons. Besides, sending voice messages may save someone's life. A lot of drivers, even though it's against the law, type messages while driving. Now that they can send voice messages, they don't need to look at the screen, so it makes the situation on the roads safer. On the contrary, voice massages may not be as convenient to the receiver. About Book Blogs

The book that I read for our reading class is called ‘Sorry Not Sorry’. It was written by a modern contemporary writer Sophie Ranald. When I was searching for the book to read, my only criteria was that the book should have a light-hearted feeling to it. I didn’t want to read anything depressing. I’ve chosen this particular book, because the synopsis sounded good. The book cover information promised ‘the perfect laugh-out-loud romantic comedy’. And, frankly, I think the novel stands up to this description. The book tells us the story of a young woman called Charlotte. Her housemates and friends Maddy and Henry are moving out, because they want to get married and start a family of their own. Charlotte hasn’t been in a serious relationship for a long time. Now that her friends have moved out, she feels like her life’s stuck in a rut. She comes across a podcast called ‘Sorry Not Sorry’, which encourages Charlotte to take risks and challenges in her love-life.     One of th

Youtube Task

Youtube is a platform with lots of different videos. I think that this site is great for different creators, artists, musicians and other people to share not only their thoughts and opinions but also their creative works. So, I'd like to share one of my favourite music videos on Youtube. It is a music video for Jackson Wang's song called 'Dway' ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-0y5nUtT80 ). Jackson Wang is one of my favourite musicians. What I particulary like about this music video is the visuals. They combine modern and traditional Chinese cultures in the most stylish way. The video is dynamic and has a lot of different locations. It's also very colourful, which makes it eye-catching. Besides, I enjoy the song itself. Flaming Red

Ding. The lift doors open. Cheryl steps into the cabin and gives a smile to a very handsome man. He smiles back. Although it's the ir first meeting, Cheryl knows this man all too well. It's  James  Adams, the CEO of N Corporation, one of the most rich people in the city. He is her new victim. She believes the rich should share their money with the poor. She thinks of herself as a modern Robin Hood.  'Good evening, Mr. Adams,' says Cheryl flirtatiously. 'Have we met before?' he muses out loud.  'Not exactly. Today was the first day of my internship.' 'And how was it?' asks Mr.Adams. 'It was a bit challenging, but I feel like I'm in the right place.' He hums in agreement. 'Good for you,' he says and slightly touches her flaming red hair. 'I hope we will see each other more often.' The view of a penthouse is breathtaking. Cheryl sips on her wine. Mr. Adams sits in front of her. They sit in silence.
